Skilled Trades Project

In-Demand Skilled Trades Project

A shortage of skilled trades is one of the biggest challenges area businesses face.

The Workforce Planning Board of Grand Erie has been asked by the Government of Ontario to talk to local businesses about skilled trades shortages in Brantford, Brant, Haldimand, Norfolk, Six Nations and New Credit.

We will be gathering information and viewpoints from Grand Erie employers through a short online survey and through a series of community get-togethers, being held during September.

Topics for discussion and the survey include:

  • Identifying the trade positions that are hardest to fill and why;
  • How to increase the number of journeypersons and apprentices;
  • How to improve Ontario’s apprenticeship system.

We want to hear from you if your business employs skilled tradespeople, journeypersons or apprentices.
