The EmployerOne survey provides vital information on the workforce needs and challenges of employers in our local communities.

The EmployerOne survey is carried out by workforce development boards across Ontario to better understand labour market demands and challenges. The Workforce Planning Board of Grand Erie’s survey collects valuable first-hand information from businesses in Six Nations, Mississaugas of the Credit, Brantford and Brant, Haldimand and Norfolk counties.

The Workforce Planning Board previously conducted the survey from 2014 to 2020 but paused the survey in 2021 and 2022 due to the pandemic.

With a special focus on Quality of Work from the perspective of employers, EmployerOne allows our community to stay informed about the HR and workforce needs, challenges and successes of local businesses.

EmployerOne 2020 results

Many local employers say recruitment and retention challenges is a major concern, the 2020 EmployerOne survey found.

Our community’s seventh annual EmployerOne survey, conducted in January 2020, engaged 251 employers in Six Nations, Mississaugas of the Credit, County of Brant, Haldimand County, Norfolk County and City of Brantford.

Fifty-nine percent of survey participants said retention is a top concern for their organization.

In addition, 86% of businesses reported that recruitment and retention challenges have impacted their business. The No. 1 impact was reduced productivity, followed by increased pressure on existing staff and negative impact on customer service.

This is one of many highlights from EmployerOne 2020.
