2020 Results
250 Grand Erie region employers completed 2020’s EmployerOne Survey. We’re analyzing the results and will report them in detail soon.
Here are some highlights:
86% of employers hired in 2019
78% of employers anticipate hiring in 2020
61% of employers had hard-to-fill positions
#1 reason for this: Not Enough Applicants
42% of employers have HR succession plans
EmployerOne survey of businesses
The Workforce Planning Board conducted the EmployerOne survey of businesses for seven straight years, from 2014 to 2020.
Several hundred businesses in Six Nations, New Credit, City of Brantford, and the counties of Brant, Haldimand, Norfolk completed the survey each year.
The EmployerOne surveys allowed us to stay informed about the HR and workforce needs, challenges and successes of local businesses.
EmployerOne 2020 results
Many local employers say recruitment and retention challenges is a major concern, the 2020 EmployerOne survey found.
Our community’s seventh annual EmployerOne survey, conducted in January 2020, engaged 251 employers in Six Nations, New Credit, County of Brant, Haldimand County, Norfolk County and City of Brantford.
Fifty-nine percent of survey participants said retention is a top concern for their organization.
In addition, 86% of businesses reported that recruitment and retention challenges have impacted their business. The No. 1 impact was reduced productivity, followed by increased pressure on existing staff and negative impact on customer service.
