Work in Grand Erie

Community discussions confirmed that there was a need for a local job board to serve job seekers and businesses in Brantford, Brant, Haldimand, Norfolk, Six Nations and Mississaugas of the Credit. A planning group of partners from business, employment service, literacy and economic development looked at several existing models. In the end, we opted for a job portal created by Workforce Windsor Essex that had been adopted by several other Ontario workforce boards. The portal was launched as Grand Erie Jobs in June 2020.

Employee Job Satisfaction Survey

We surveyed about 500 Grand Erie residents, both those working and not working, to get a better sense of their experiences in the workforce. Many residents reported they were underemployed because they weren’t fully using their skills or work experience in their current jobs. Unemployed residents reported facing substantial barriers finding work, including lack of public transit. The survey also shed light on why people quit their jobs.
